The nine Impresiones Argentinas by María Luisa Anido include almost all of the nuances and essential elements of the Argentine folk music: Indian, mestizo, pampan and North-western Creole. These are alluring pieces, with deep earthy roots. Listed by geographical situation, Preludio criollo, Variaciones camperas, Preludio pampeano, Triste and Canto de la llanura correspond with the folk music of the coastal pampas. Santiagueía (Aire de Chacara), Catamarqueía (Vidala), Boceto Indígena and Misachico refer to the Aymara-Qhechua people of the Altiplano, the cradle of the two great Indian civilizatons: the Tiahuanaco and Inca empires were (and are) influental right across South-America, from the north, central and coastal region of Argentina to Uruguay, from north of Chile to Marajuara peninsula in the Amazon delta in Brazil, etc.
